Janet Jones earned her PhD from UCLA and taught the neuroscience of perception, language, memory and thought for 23 years. Janet trained horses at a large stable early in her career, and later ran a successful horse training business of her own. She has schooled hundreds of green or difficult horses, she rides many breeds and disciplines, and has competed in hunter, jumper, halter, western riding, and reining. And she employs the principles of basic dressage in all horse sports. But the number one reason for inviting her is that she applies brain science to the training of both horse and rider. Her book, Horse Brain, Human Brain, has been translated into eight languages since its publication in 2020. It was this very book that caught my attention and piqued my curiosity. I found myself eager to learn more about her and, last but certainly not least, to delve deeper into how the equine brain compares to ours.
